Notes
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mildred Bunting Miller studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1910-15) and the Art Students’ League Summer School in Woodstock, NY (1913). She was awarded two Cresson Traveling Scholarships in 1914 and 1921.
She was resident artist at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Country School at Chester Springs from 1916-34 and instructor from 1926-34. She exhibited extensively and received numerous awards throughout her long career.
Arguably the finest of Daniel Garber’s students, Miller’s work clearly shows his palette, broken brushstroke, and unique illustrative quality although interpreted in her own style.
