Lyubov Shanina was born as Lyubov Trembachevskaya the 19th of October 1925. She lived, together with her husband, the artist Marat Shanin, in Saransk, Mordovia.

In 1960 Shanina became a member of the Union of Artists. She was active as a graphic artist, a painter and an art teacher, an a Merited artist of Mordovia since 1965. Shanina died in Saransk in 2008.

Her painting Ukrainian girls at the Market (1960) was reproduced in the 2001 Douwes Fine Art Russian Paintings catalogue.
