Notes:
Hans Goderis was a fairly unknown Dutch marine painter of seascapes during his lifetime. He was the son of Joris Goderis and Maritgen Lybaerts. Between 1622 and 1638 he worked in Haarlem. In 1623 he became a member of the local Guild of Saint Luke. Goderis seems to have been wealthy, and painted as a hobby. In 1632 a number of paintings were auctioned. He often painted on wood and his frames were considered special. In 1648 he is mentioned by Theodorus Schrevelius in his Harlemias as a pupil of Jan Porcellis.
