Notes

Lucas.
Rechthuis.

From the age of eleven Heertje van Doornik started painting and drawing. He received
lessons in Amsterdam from Pieter Dupon and H.M. Krabbé. He was a member of the St.
Lucas painting association. He preferred city views, especially Amsterdam city views in
the style of the “Haagse School”, but also old village and harbor views from around the
Zuiderzee area. In addition to being a painter, he was also a wine merchant. His wine
shop was located on the Middenweg in Amsterdam’s Watergraafsmeer, near the
Rechthuis.
