Notes
Thaddeus or Ted van Eijsden started painting at a young age and was part of the New Hague School after the Second World War. In 1959 he was awarded the Jacob Hartog Prize and in 1960 the Jacob Maris Prize, both prizes of the Pulchri Studio in The Hague, where Van Eijsden regularly had exhibitions as a working member. Van Eijsden’s work differs from realistic art to more abstract works such as this composition from 1973.
